"The Phoenix unit"

About: Sunderland Royal Hospital

I have attended this unit for a few years now, and have to say the staff who work there from cleaners, volunteers, doctors and especially the nurses are brilliant each and everyone of them. The staff are often under immense pressure with so many patients to treat, but are always courteous, professional, and always have time for you no matter have busy they are and you can always have a bit fun with them. They are true Angels and credit to Sunderland Royal. The manager is an absolutely fantastic person and is very easy to get on with and always has a smile for you which makes you visit to the unit much more relaxed and a more pleasurable, and of course you do form bonds with the nurses that treat you the most and it does help in your Cancer journey. Before I started treatment, I heard a lot of horror stories about the unit and staff not being very friendly and abrupt, but is a fantastic environment with fantastic staff and I love every one of them

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review on the NHS Choices website of your experience of our haematology services over the last few years. We are delighted to hear your care and treatment has been of the high standard we always strive to achieve. We are extremely proud of the excellent team on the Phoenix Unit and whilst they have received recognition awards from the Trust in recent years, we're sure feedback such as this is appreciated so much more by them as it confirms they are succeeding in their aims to provide the very best of care to their patients. Thank you once again.
