I have just returned home after receiving a Pacemaker operation. On Tuesday I visited my doctor because of symptoms of breathlessness. Her reaction to a very low pulse rate was to immediately order an ECG by the nurse in the surgery. From there she arranged for me to attend E.Surrey accident &emergency urgently. The staff in the admissions fast tracked me to a doctor who confirmed with a number of tests that I may need a pacemaker fitted. I was transferred to the Cardiac ward. On Wednesday the operation was completed and I returned home on Thursday. I cannot speak more highly of everyone who looked after me. From start to finish everyone concerned was kind, freindly and professional. The entire team in the cardiac ward worked hard with all patients. I had not been an in patient for 64 years and the media had given me the impression that all was not well with the NHS. My own experience will say that they are wrong in the majority of their comments. The staff ,from top to bottom,do a difficult and demanding job extremely well and they should receive much praise from all of us. The NHS is an excellent service and we should all be proud of the people who look after us.
