I was prepared to give Wexham a chance. I'm sure all hospitals have bad reviews. But having now seen it first hand, we're in a real predicament about changing hospitals for the birth of our child. We had to go in due to sickness and have the precautionary checks. The first time, the doctor turned up looking like he'd been working 4-5 days non-stop. Scratching at the back of his head constantly. Is this the sort of person you want examining you...? Added to the fact that he kept getting her details wrong every time he opened his mouth. Who knows if she got the right treatment at all? I could have maybe put this down to one bad visit. Surely things might improve the second time around? For the second visit - firstly it took an hour to park - a whole different issue (seriously if it's any other time than the middle of the night you won't find a space. Not even in the drop off area designated for urgent admissions). The experience that followed was even worse. My partner had to go back and be put on a drip for dehydration. Now she is not too keen on needles, and we let them know.. So they sent in a nurse that had clearly only done this a few times before! Outside the cubicle they were laughing at her, and how she stated herself that she always makes a mess of these!! Then she proceeded to make an utter mess of it. The hand ballooned up and she kept, saying 'The vein's collapsed, the vein's collapsed!'. Not great if you're afraid of needles eh? But then it got a whole lot worse......... After eventually getting the needle in another place further up her arm, blood all over her, all over me 2 metres away, and all over the floor, and I can't believe I'm having to write this.... She wiped the floor, and then with the same wipe cleaned up my partner's arm! All over the previous hole from the failed attempt! How bad can it get? We had planned to have the birth there, but are seriously considering moving now all this has happened. Even if you sit in reception of the triage, you can see the utter confusion and lack or organisation this place has. If it wasn't a hospital it would be bordering on comical.
"Same wipe for the floor as used on patients"
