I attended my local casualty unit at Beverley on Sunday 5 October following a fall off steps at home. I had injuries to legs arm and finger. All checked out exept my finger nail that had been partially pulled off. The doctor removed it using a local anesthetic. He felt it need further surgery as the nail bed was damaged. He made an appointment with the Plastic Surgery unit at HRI for the next day. I arrived 10 am the consultant confirmed surgery was needed and asked me to return to clinic in another building at 12.30 as it had to be done in the operating theatre. The consultant his registrar and team performed micro surgery on my finger putting in about 6 stitches so the nail would go back properly. I couldnt ask for more. Job well done. Its difficult for the Health team as all ailments are not as straight foreward as mine. Often they dont even know what the problem is. Its a process of elimination I suppose. I do understand the frustration of people though. Your experience often depends on the individuals you encounter during your treatment. Its a fact of life that some people just try that little bit harder than others and maybe more competant. Well done again.
