"How a bad experience became better"

About: Frimley Park Hospital (Camberley) Surrey PCT / Contraception and sexual health

(as the patient),

For reasons that will become clear I will not tell you to much about myself.

3 weeks ago I was raped.

On the advice of the police I attend my local Genito Urinary Medicine Clinic at Frimley Park Hospital.

On arrival I was directed to a lady health adviser which appeared to know very little about advice to give to someone in my position and sent me away for 3 months, something to do with blood tests are accurate then, I was never referred for any other tests or investigates despite telling her 3 times it was unprotected.

I went home and felt that the information I had been given was inaccurate and the whole episode angered me. I contacted NHS direct who directed me to Farnham Road Hospital Genito Urinary Medicine clinic, as I walked through the door I immediately felt more comfortable with the environment. I met a larger than life male nurse first, who took me a side to find out why I had attended without an appointment, his understanding and demonstrated empathy for my situation which made me realise I had come to the right place. He immediately got me in to see Bee a health advisor, all I can say is what a wonderful woman, after spending time with her I was introduced to the doctor who did a full examination and tests, I came away educated with hope that my present situation is not going to last forever. They gave me information and helped me book into local support groups. Thank you to the Staff of the Genito Urinary clinic at Farnham Road Hospital a highly recommended service, unlike the Frimley service.
