"Appointments"

About: Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust

(as the patient),

After being treated at UHCW for several years with jaw problems, in January I was referred over to Birmingham. I have had appointments at Birmingham Dental Hospital where on the first occasion the consultant didn't turn up and I ended up seeing a dentist! I've had an MRI and got another appointment with the dentist. My problem is with my jaw joints not my teeth! The dentist said I would get an appointment at a Birmingham hospital because I need joint replacement surgery. I received an appointment at city hospital for a date in September then it got cancelled and another appointment made for October. This has now also been cancelled. I now have an appointment given for November which cannot be guaranteed won't be cancelled again. Meanwhile, I am left in constant agony and being told on the phone by the hospital it's not uncommon to wait this long. How does this help me it's been 10 months since my referral from UHCW and I've got nowhere! Disgusting treatment!

Dear Emma76

Thank you for your email which you sent directly to me yesterday, and I am sorry if the response I posted previously was not accurate. Since your email, my colleague at the Dental Hospital has checked and clarified to me that although she understood from Julie Braun that she had been in touch with you, she did agree we would provide you with Julie Braun's contact details so you could contact her if you directly if you wish to. I hadn’t understood that when I posted the response on this site. Julie Braun is the Service Manager at City Hospital. Her number is 0121 507 5493. I am sorry for the error on my part, and I do hope you will be able to resolve the concerns with Julie when you speak with her.

Kind regards

Alison Last
