"Not a great first experience of birth"

About: Basildon University Hospital

(as the patient),

well its not really a story just my experience. i was a 1t time mum and started my labour pains at home , within 1 hr i was getting them every 5 mins which i thought was quick. given that it was my first birth, i phoned labour ward and the lady told me i have to stay at home as i sounded fine on the phone so it wasn't that bad. i phoned bk 3 times and each time she told me to stay where i was, in the end i went in of my own accord. within mins of being there i was getting contractions every min. i knew it was time but they didn't think so. the mid wife told me i would b like this most likely for another 10 hrs. i told her i needed to push and she told me don't b silly i wasn't ready. i pushed once, i pushed twice and out came my son, the midwife was there just in time to catch him. i had him at 6.23 am and was sent home by 11am, 5 hrs after giving birth they sent me home. i was shocked! the next day a home midwife came to see me n sent me straight bk to basildon hospital because they didn't see that my son was jaundiced. My 1st time experience was not a very good one. we then stayed in hospital for a further 3 days.
