"A&E saved my son's life"

About: Wansbeck Hospital

I took my 11 year old son to accident and emergency where he was diagnosed with diabetes type 1. As I didn't know anybody with this illness I put my sons symptoms down to other things like a water infection or bug and by the time we arrived it became evident he was in a critical condition. His body had started to shut down and blood was only being carried to his vital organs. The swift treatment he received and the fantastic care the nurses provided I believe saved his life and I will be eternally grateful to them.

Dear Amanda, Thank you so much for this very kind and heartfelt feedback for the staff in A&E at Wansbeck Hospital. I can only begin to imagine the distress and anguish you must have gone through that day. It is so reassuring to know how promptly and efficiently your little boy was cared for when he arrived. It is also important to us to know that he was cared for in a kind and compassionate manner. I have shared your feedback with the team. Each and very one of them will no doubt be very touched to know just how much their care has meant to you. I hope your little boy is doing well now and enjoying life just as eleven year olds should. Take good care and thanks again, Annie
