"Gynaecology Dept"

Had an appointment in this dept at the beginning of this year. I decided to go private in order to be seen quicker and have more time in discussing my situation. I saw a lady gynaecologist who was meant to see me at 3pm. When the patient before me came out of her office, the gynaecologist followed 5 mins later and didn't come back for another 40 mins which meant I was 40 mins late picking my niece up from school! I had no apology. Whilst I was waiting in reception area outside her office various nurses passed by and I smiled at everyone of them only to be given a look of contempt (maybe it was the boots I was wearing ) I felt really put out because I was feeling really nervous as it was and smiling helps me to feel more relaxed and even more so if the medical team smile back. When I was finally seen I was the one in the office making light conversation in order to break this really hostile environment. I was made to feel I shouldn't be there. They really shouldn't be in this profession if they have I adequate social skills. There was only one lady who was kind to me and it was the lady who booked my scan however needless to say I went to the Royal Bolton Hospital for it and will be going with the NHS from now on as they were fantastic with me. When I initially rang to make an appt with the bookings dept for gynaecology the lady I spoke to was extremely rude. I naively didn't realise you had to get a referral from your own GP first in order to see a specialist (I'd never had to do anything like this before) and instead of saying calmly 'you'll need to see your own GP first' she exclaimed down the phone 'you can't just come in and see someone go to your GP!' I was so upset because at the time I was feeling very vulnerable due to feeling constantly poorly with my ongoing problem and no one at that hospital helped me or guided me through any process. Terrible staff, hope the other departments aren't the same.
