Only just come across this site' I will bullet point treatment from Southport hospital over last 2 years . (1) 2012 Attended A&E waited just under 3 hrs even though in excruciating pain (2) 2012 eventually admitted to E.A.U (covering Dr was very inexperienced) it took 13 hrs for a diagnosis from consultant,i was told emergency operation within 30 mins. (3) 2012 Nursing staff no information for my impending discharge (had to make my own appointment with consultants secretary) (4) E.A.U was left in wheelchair and had to rest my saline drip on door hinge while fiancée went to toilet while waiting to get a bed. (5) During time on on P.I.U, I witnessed nurse pour elderly patients urine down ward sink splashing(absolutely disgusting) (6) During time on P.I.U i awoke in bed to the strong smell of faeces,i looked to my left and noticed bed sheets rolled up on wooden cabinet (the elderly gentleman had soiled his bed,no nurses were around so i alarmed to make aware) a nurse attended and removed the sheets (absolutely disgusting) how long where the sheets on the unit ? (7) Ward 14A (the wards give you cabin fever due to their design and construction-the floor practically bounce when you walk along them) x3 nights an elderly gentleman (who clearly was in a distressed state) kept everyone awake with no thoughtful attention or understanding from nursing staff. (8 )My only positive point was attendance in critical care unit staff were excellent . Overall there are to many comments and facts regarding poor care/unhygienic practices/levels of inexperienced staff @ Southport Hospital.The hospital should be demolished, rebuilt to modern standards with a strategic forward thinking plan for more consistent levels of care,clinical excellence,continuity of nursing and senior medical staff,I have attended Ormskirk,St Helens,Whiston,Aintree(Fazakerly),Aintree(Liverpool) and Southport hospital is definitely at the bottom of the pile on all levels, at this moment i discourage anyone to attend i would not recommend the Hospital to anyone.
