"It may be unusual, but I encountered ..."

About: St Thomas' Hospital (London)

(as the patient),

What I liked

It may be unusual, but I encountered no waiting for a pre-op assessment and was greeted by friendly, helpful and cheerful staff. The Assessment Clinic looked completely brand new, was scrupulously clean, well-resourced and well-staffed.

Being addressed by my first name was a really pleasant surprise: friendly and welcoming. Brilliant, smiling reception staff!

I was treated with complete dignity at all times and was met with efficient administration and unusually cheerful staff!

What could be improved

Almost impossible to find anything to criticise - this was first-class and reassuring treatment in a very well-equipped day-patient unit. OK, this was just a preparatory assessment before surgery, but it was hugely reassuring to be treated so kindly and to have my many questions answered so fully and so patiently.

Anything else?

I simply don't recognise the hospital described in some other comments here. Maybe other departments are very different? My visit was astonishingly good - textbook, first-class NHS care that made me very, VERY proud of the NHS and so glad St Thomas' is my local hospital.
