About: Manchester Royal Infirmary

Went for some urgent blood test regarding an accident I had at work almost 4 weeks ago. Tried to chase them up for my results. I spoke to 3 different persons with the last one to reassure me that my GP would have the results within 3 days time. After that time, I called the GP and they hadn't receive anything. When I called back the hospital, another person told me that they can't send them unless my GP send them a fax with my details etc! The GP called them to ask about it and still nothing almost 4 weeks after. It's ridiculous to play with other peoples health issues. I am a health professional and I am disgusted.

Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to learn that your experience was not as positive as we would hope when you attended the Emergency Department in September. It is important to us that comments are heard and seen as an opportunity provided to the service to make changes and improvements wherever possible.

In response to your comment, I can tell you that we have been reviewing the discharge summaries to provide further information to the GP and which includes the blood test results. This is recent change and we are reviewing and monitoring our practices to ensure that there is continuous improvements. Your concerns have also been raised directly with the staff / department involved so that they can look into them so that others don’t experience the same issues as you did. It is difficult for us to assist you directly due to the anonymity of the NHS choices website but if you would like to discuss your concerns further please contact the department and ask to speak with one of the Matrons or Lead Nurse who will be more than happy to assist and address any ongoing concerns.
