"Hospital feedback"

About: Royal Preston Hospital

Two years ago my consultant agreed to treat the Multiple Myeloma problem I had developed. Initial discussion between us convinced me that he lnot only listened carefully to my concerns, he also assured me he would discuss treatment along the journey and would not try to force any drugs upon me that I felt I could not tollerate. We are now two years into the journey, we have kept our word to each other (my word being I would respect his instructiions at all times). Every cancer journey is different, every cancer patient is frightened, some patients are alone, the consultant and his team are always there, twenty four seven, some of the nurses have the ability to explain problems in "lay-mans-terms", by doing this, something that seems life threatening becomes defused, and then dealt with in moments....but the patient must be determined to get answers, panic and distress can cause anger , always count to 10 don't let anger dominate. The patient must treat doctors and staff with respect and always always tell the truth as far as they are able, above all they must carry out the consultant's instructions. My Multiple Myeloma problem has now plateaud, i am crying with happiness, to: my consultant, and all of the fantastic team .......a megga, megga thankyou, the world has changed colour these last few days. You have given me my life back. (To my husband, I love you "To the moon and back", you made the journey worthwhile. To my amazing family and friends: love always.

Thank you taking the time to tell us of the high standard of care you received at what has obviously been a very difficult and worrying time for you and your family. It is extremely satisfying to hear that the care provided was of the high standard we aim to provide to all our patients at such times. Please be assured that your kind comments have been shared with the staff concerned in your care.
