"Appendicitis patient treated by wonderful dedicated team in St Mawes Unit & Pendennis Ward"

About: Royal Cornwall Hospital (Treliske) / General surgery

(as a parent/guardian),

My son complained of severe pain on the right side of his lower abdomen during the middle of the night. I rang NHS 911 and I was instructed to take him to Serco for an assessment. He was very quickly diagnosed with a suspected appendicitis and referred to the St Mawes Ward at the Hospital.

The nurses, doctors, consultants & surgeons, cleaning & catering staff were all very kind, professional and reassuring. Nothing was too much trouble, and I really felt as if he was in safe hands.

He was operated on the following morning and had Laparoscopic surgery. Every procedure was explained with excellent clarity, and the outcome was a successful operation. I am very grateful and would like to thank everyone at Treliske who were involved with my sons diagnosis, treatment and recovery.

Nothing was too much trouble and every member of staff I came into contact with made our stay as stress free & as comfortable as possible. Thank you all.... XX
