Admitted to A/E with chest pains at 8.30am. 15 mins wait to enter initial assessment and then formal process kicked in by a very professional team. Main examinations completed with full explanations by lunch time at which time I was admitted to Emergency Assessment Unit for further tests. Lunch over (very good) the staff completed the admission procedure and very interested and impressed with the thoroughness of the process. During the afternoon seen by two caring doctors and was told of the test results and that I may be discharged late afternoon with a prescription. Discharged by 6.15 pm fully satisfied. Customer care is a tough service to get right and I could not find fault with this one from the porters, A/E Team and the excellent Nursing Care of the EAU - a real credit to the NHS and interestingly all females (excluding one excellent male porter) which may say something. My thanks to all. As a side note I have been unable to understand why all NHS GP's for a town are not centred on the local hospital in order to offer a comprehensive modern medical service - must be the old fashioned way they are remunerated as a business.
