"Dermatology department..."

About: Queen's Hospital (Romford)

I was referred by my GP for an 'Urgent' appointment following treatment on my face in Broomfield hospital. This was 4 weeks ago. I phoned the main switch board at Queen's last Friday and got put through to the dermatology department. They said they had no record of a referral being sent by my GP and they had no idea or indication that I was waiting on an appointment. I was advised to see my GP and to ask him to fax the referral to them. I saw my GP yesterday who explained that he had sent the referral and he showed me evidence of this. He said he doesn't know what the dermatology department are talking about because everything they need is on the system. So while there is clearly an enormous lack of communication here, I am stuck with large growths on my face/neck and awaiting an 'urgent' appointment. p.s. I visited the Hot Clinic at Queen's which is not an option on the drop down menu.

I am sorry to hear about the miscommunication between your GP and our Dermatology department. To get to the bottom of this for you, I will require more details from you. Please contact me via our PALS team on 01708 435 454 or email PALS@bhrhospitals.nhs.uk. Yours sincerely, Stephen Burgess Medical Director
