"Moving on"

About: Southmead Hospital

In September 2012 after good quality consultation l decided to progress with operations to fuse my worn out big toe joints. At the time although fit my feet were so painful many activities l enjoyed were beyond me. The operations were skilfully completed on time, without complications and after a period of rehab totally successful. Last year l was able to complete the Tour of Mont Blanc ,120 miles walking with 10,000metres of climbing over 11 days and this year l have done two long walks including the Haute Route of nearly 200 miles with 14,000 metres of climbing. I am totally indebted to the skilled surgeons who improved both my quality of life but also extended my freedom to explore. Let's stop knocking the NHS and celebrate it.
