I am 37 years old, I was admitted as an emergency to ICU after a cardic arrest caused by an allergic reaction, I had open heart surgery and was put on the ECMO machine, where I stayed in an induced coma for about 5 days. I can not express how grateful I am to the team at wythenshawe who saved my life, I could not have wished for better treatment. No one could believe how well I recovered, it was all thanks to the amazing treatment and care I received. I was really confused and scared when I started to wake up, the nurses in ICU where brilliant I can not thank them enough. Once I was well enough I went to the Coronary care ward. I had only just realised what had happened to me and I was terrified, the nurses were again excellent on my first night one nurse even said she would sit holding my hand all night if she had too. Since leaving hospital I have continued to make a great recovery thanks to the wythenshawe.
