About: Addenbrooke's Hospital

I have recently been seen in the fracture clinic. I have a long term health condition and attend several clinics in the hospital. This review is specific to the orthopaedic service. While the reception and nursing staff are friendly and helpful enough, you're then shown into a rather small room to see the doctor. The rooms are barely accessible in a wheelchair, barely enough room to turn around. The rooms have no access to IT, xray images etc. When you're finally seen by the doctor, you get the impression that they look at your notes about 1 minute before they see you; you don't get the feeling of any sort of continuity in care. When I questioned the doctor about CT scan results they had to go off to another room, presumably to have another look. There appeared to be no chance that I could look at the images and you're definitely made to feel like care is dispensed and you don't feel that you're part of your own care and involved in any decision-making process. It's rather like stepping back in time, which is rather disappointing in an apparently world-leading and innovating hospital. I attend other clinics in the hospital where the approach and care are quite inclusive. I have also been an inpatient where I received excellent care throughout the stay.

Thank you for taking the time to comment on the care you recently received at the fracture clinic. I am sorry to learn that you do not consider that the facilities and services are of the standard you expect. I will ensure that your feedback is conveyed to senior staff. If you would like to provide any further details and receive an individual response, please do not hesitate to contact the Patient Advice and Liaison Services on 01223 216756 or email pals@addenbrookes.nhs.uk. I am pleased to hear that you are satisfied with the care provided at other clinics in the hospital and during your inpatient stay. PALS and Complaints Manager
