"Living with chronic pain"

About: NHS West Hertfordshire

(as the patient),

I'm in chronic pain in my lower back and legs. I'm now registered disabled and have been for the last 6 years. I need to use my wheelchair and walk with a stick. My home has been adapted.

So I went to my DRS yesterday due to a downturn in my health and saw yet another new doctor. She said I need to go for an ultrasound on my legs as I may have a blood clot, and also referred me back to the pain clinic. So I rang the pain clinic when I got home, they were lovely.

Then today at noon I get a call from the doctor's surgery, and I'm told the doctor has changed her mind about sending me for the ultrasound and will only be sending me back to the pain clinic. No reason why.

So I rang the pain clinic again and was advised to get the doctors to fax it over, so they can see me as soon as possible. Great I thought, but then i called back the doctor's surgery. Only to be told that I saw a locom doctor and i would have to wait until she is back next Weds. They said thats all they can do, or i could ring in the morning and try to get an appointment with another doctor.

I expressed the pain i'm in (2hrs sleep in 24hrs). I already take 18 tablets a day they are not working. Neither are the staff at the practice. I'm sure a vet wouldn't leave an animal in this pain. This is no way to live, they just don't care. So is this really the NHS? I can't believe this is the treatment we get, or should i say lack of it. This is it, this is how i'm left.
