"left without assistance"

About: New Cross Hospital

was having my first baby and had a very long labor- almost 48 hours. the nurses kept sending me home. so when the waters finally broke i went back and requested for an epidural but nobody seemed to listen. all i got was the oxygen thing which wasn't of any help...and was left again for another 5 hours till they heard an anomaly on the baby monitoring machine, they then rushed me to the labor room, not even 2 minutes later the baby was coming through. it was awful, was in pain, no pain relief but they had to cut me as it was probable that i was going to get a bad tear. so i was cut raw as the thigh injection they gave me on the labor bed only started working after my son was born. Awful service, it made my birth experience more terrible than it should have been. in order to improve there needs to be 1) more listening to the patient: the patient should be a priority otherwise you are not providing care if you do not listen to their needs 2) clear communication with the patient inform them of any progress, difficulties, procedures 3) and cultivating a mindful attitude towards the patients at a very vulnerable moment in their lives: i would say the staff need to look at the patients as individuals in order to meet their person-specific need rather than blindly follow procedures.
