I will admit after some bad experiences at Broomfield I was dreading surgery there. It also doesn't help that I am slightly autistic so find hospitals very traumatic . I had to be at ward 301 at 07:30am only thing was no one was there to open the main door of the department, but eventually someone came. I had a PA personal assistant with me for a few hours and everything was explained clearly although I was very frightened the staff on 301, did their very best to keep me calm and reassured. I couldn't understand the anesthesia guy but he was kind and funny. I have a huge fear of needles and when i went down to the knocking out room they were very very kind and caring and got the evil needle bit done very quickly. then I don't remember anything until i woke up on 344 a young surgeon did my op. He came and saw me showed me my giant stone, told me there had been complications which I didn't understand. I was given pain meds and the nurses where extra caring I came home the same day although I should have opted to stay I was given the choice 3 days post op I am fine hardly no pain almost back to normal All the staff I came into contact with that day were very caring, very nice polite and professional and I felt like a person not just a number
