I was admitted into ward 32 for a hysterectomy in early September. Unfortunately I had a bleed into the stomach the following day which caused a lot of panic and emergency ct scans etc. However the consultants and staff were very quick to treat me with 2 sorts of antibiotics as my temp kept on soaring and my other stats where bad as well. They kept a member of staff with me 24/7 on the Tuesday that this started and kept my husband up to date every hr.
The following days, I was in extreme pain as this clot took hold (so to speak). A following CT scan then revealed the clot to be 8 cm wide by 6 cm thick, pressing down and putting pressure on my bowl and bladder.
The care I got from the nurses was fantastic, they were on the ball with my care, even down to the wee cups of tea at 6am when they came to change my iv antibiotics. consultants came in every day, sometimes twice a day to check up on me.
Fortunately on the Wednesday the clot started to come away, which was a horrendous experience but again the girls where amazing and sorted me out. I was mortified at the mess etc but the girls were assuring, caring and professional, even down to giving me little hugs when I got upset. It wasn't till that day that I was told how serious this was and what could have happened! Again I got upset and the girls were there to comfort me. They did and are still doing a amazing job on that ward. Every single nurse, consultant and doctor deserves high praise. They made what was a very scary time for me a lot more bearable. The ward 32 sister's name is Sandra Fawns.
