About: Stafford Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

I am leaving a comment for my nan, who was taken into Stafford hospital last March / April time. She had fallen over and fractured her hip and was only supposed to be in Stafford hospital for a short time. The care that she received was both disgusting and not acceptable, something and someone needs to be held responsible for it. She was in hospital for pretty much the rest of the year until she sadly passed away a week before Christmas. And i strongly believe that my nan would still be alive today if she hadn't been taken to Stafford. No one on the ward actually knew what they were doing, they would leave her unattended for 4-5 hours at a time, she would have no water in her jug and our family had to take it upon ourselves to make sure she had clean fresh water. She caught C-DIFF and MRSA while being in there, became anorexic and lost all of her weight she had left. No one was watching or recording what she was eating, no one cared. She was left for hours at a time lying in her own waste, and it was reasons like this that she let go of what life she had left. I truly believe that this cannot be left under wraps, chairman and chief executive should be held responsible for all the deaths that have occurred needlessly. How and why should someone be given a position to manage and look after such an important thing as a hospital and be allowed to walk away from it unscathed when so many people have had to watch there loved ones pass away with no dignity and respect for them. I for one am not accepting it.

What could be improved

The care, the treatment, the after care, basic needs like water and cleanliness weren't there most of the time. My nan used to tell me that they nurses completley ignore her. If my nan asked for some help of one nurse she would tell her give me a couple of minutes. But would never return and my nan thinking there were more ill people than her wouldn't bother anyone else and would be left for hours without any one coming in. If someone isn't eating there food then surely the nurses and doctors should be aware of this and be trying to make a change. The word care, doesn't come close to what my nan received.

Anything else?

Someone should be held responsible!
