"where are the wheelchairs"

About: Cumberland Infirmary

I am a regular user of the cumberland infirmary and am increasingly frustrated and annoyed about the lack of hospital wheelchairs. We rely on these to get us from our transport to the clinic. We are regularly left waiting in our transport for 15 to 20 minutes while the driver tries to find a spare wheelchair to bring us into the hospital. The same usually occurs when its time to leave too. Our drivers are regularly having rows with the porters who hide the wheelchairs from the drivers as there aren't enough to go round. The wheelchairs are pretty ropey too when we do manage to get one. How about spending a bit less money on all these posters and video screens saying how good the hospital is, and putting the cash towards some wheelchairs. We'll make our own minds up about how good the hospital is or isn't without you trying to telling us thankyou.

Thank you for getting in touch to raise these concerns and for drawing this shortage to our attention. I am sorry that your visits have caused such frustration. I have forwarded the matter to the relevant manager for their immediate attention. With thanks again Alison Patient Experience
