"double hip replacement"

About: Wrightington Hospital / Trauma and orthopaedics

(as a relative),

My partner is currently on ward 6 as I write this he's had excellent care from everyone else until he went on ward 6.

He is phoning me up every night begging me to pick him up and he says the nurses are ignoring him when he's asking for help and they carry on walking past. They are only giving him paracetamol for his pain. He has had a double hip replacement and he is in agony.

He tried getting in bed himself has he asked them but they didn't listen and nearly fell and still didn't come to help I'm at home crying and worrying what he's going through while in there but I can't bring him home I don't know how to look after him.

Thank you for taking the time to post your experience. From the outset we would like to offer our sincere apologies for this poor experience. Although you did not provide the name of your partner, due to the nature of the surgery he had undergone we were able to identify your partner on the ward. As a result the Head of Nursing for the Division of Specialist Services took the opportunity to discuss your post with the Ward Manager for Ward 6 and on Thursday 2 October 2014 the Ward Manager visited your partner to discuss any concerns he had. This allowed the Ward Manager and her team to deal with your partner’s concerns in real time which we hope he found helpful. However, if either your partner or you have any further concerns you would like to discuss I would be grateful if you could contact either the Patient Relations Department or Ward 6.
