My experience of a recent stay on ward 3 at Royal Oldham Hospital was one I would not want to repeat.
After undergoing surgery on my Achilles tendon (tendon transfer) I was confined to my bed. Due to me having a bad reaction to the general anaesthetic I was vomiting profusely and in need of assistance from the nursing staff. I had no buzzer to summon help, so another patient rang hers for me.
She rang & rang, nobody came. Oops, no container, I soiled the bed.
When eventualy a nurse arrived at my bedside and surveyed my vomit-soiled bedclothes, she was very rude and said I would have to stay in this dirty state until she had time to change my bedclothes, as she was busy with another patient.
I asked if another nurse couldn't do it? Her answer: "No, you are my patient." And with that she walked off. One hour later she returned to clean me up.
