"Best place to be with an ill child"

About: Scarborough General Hospital

Why do people moan about or health care system, because the politicians use it as a political tool, they tells us about all the bad points and then guess what people see them, and start to moan. We were there about 3 hr, grandson had taken a turn for the worse following a bang to the head, and having a virus. Very unwell for a short period, worrying for parents and grandparents. He was assessed very quickly, then you are in the right place if things start to go wrong. He was seen by 2 doctors, given medication, and attended by 2 nurses. There was an initial decision to keep him in, and a parent could stay. All this time he was improving, as observations continued, it was decided he was improving and as such could carry on home to York. This diecision was ratified as he was demanding food within 5 minutes of the start of or journey home. He's nearly back to normal today. The real reason for this narrative. Whilst there, there were 3 crash calls, medical staff appearing from all directions, the first one a man in great distress who was brought in by a helper, immediately seen, assessed, then treated, the next was a patient from an ambulance, this is bit that made me write this, a person waiting to register in the walk in waiting room, said this is bad, to get seen you need to come in in an ambulance, the third not sure about. A & E must be a stressful but rewarding place to work. It is a system, that if there loads of money could be improved, but guess what no wants to pay anymore. Plus remember there is no one checking that you have pre paid, or can pay for what ever treatment you get. If you are about to start moaning, think several times, and bite your lip, you will be seen, you will get the treatment that you need, and yes to a certain extent what can be afforded by the budgets in place, it is not the admin staffs fault and nor the medical staff's fault that some treatments and drugs are not available. Encourage your politician to give them more. Thank you Scarborough Hospital.
