"CAMHS let my child and family down"

About: South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust / Child and adolescent mental health

(as a parent/guardian),

My child who has ADHD eventually got to see someone at camhs due to the sheer persistence of the SENCO at school, My child has had meds altered 3 times and they are still unsettled.

At the last appointment in July my childs meds were changed again but we were told that my child would have to have a follow up before a repeat prescription could be given.

It got to the end of August and I still didn't have a prescription so I called in to be told that I would definitely get an appointment letter in the post.

It got to the point where I had 10 days meds left so phoned and phoned, eventually someone returned my call and assured me that the doctor would get back to me. Now down to 3 days left and still no prescription. I was then assured on the Thursday that I could collect the prescription would be ready to collect on Friday. I went for the prescription on Friday, they close at 5, only to find they had all gone home! ! I spent the weekend on the phone to 111 and visited the on-call doctor, who although very helpful couldn't help me. When I spoke to camhs after the weekend they couldn't explain why nobody was there. I feel very let down by the service and system and now have my child at home as they have been excluded.
