My Dad has just spent 10 days at the leeds heart hospital but did sadly die on Tuesday evening. Despite the very sad and unexpected outcome we were really pleased with the care Dad received. The nurses in particular were very good and extremely caring. They did everything we expected to keep Dad safe and informed: MRSA screening, VTE assessment, hello my name is... He was happy during in his time in hospital, and felt secure that he was getting good care. The wards were very clean and infection prevention and control was high on everyone's priorities. On ICU on Tuesday I witnessed great situational awareness from a nurse who challenged a doctor (in a very nice way) for wearing his jacket and shirt sleeves. He immediately stepped back, rolled his sleeves up before continuing to provide care to Dad. Sadly Dad didn't survive but his heart was on much worse state than anyone knew, but they fought hard for him and for that I'm grateful. Thank you to everyone from the cleaners to the consultants. You did a good job.
"A sad end but not because of the care"
