Yesterday I spent the day in Doncaster Royal Infirmary having a hysteroscopy after 3 previous visits for outpatient appointments. I was very impressed on all occasions by the efficiency, friendliness and professionalism of everyone I met from the admissions desk to the after care.
The only hiccup I experienced was on my 2nd visit when I didn't intially realise that the consultant I was talking to wasn't the doctor who mentioned I could have surgery to correct my prolapse, which hasn't been a big problem for me so far.
This suggestion made me research prolapses on the web and I went to the 2nd appointment with a few questions on what I thought was going to be a decision about surgery on the prolapse. The consultant only wanted to talk about his plan to do the hysteroscopy and at one point I wondered if he thought I was someone else because he didn't want to discuss the prolapse at all.
It was rather embarassing because he said he didn't look at all like the doctor I'd seen previously. But when I met him again yesterday all was fine.
After publicity about MRSA and other infections I was very aware how often staff used the hand cleaning facilities (I used them myself) and witnessed cleaning of equipment too.
I can honestly say that the whole positive experience yesterday was as pleasant as such a thing can be. Thank you DRI.
