I had a minor op on the 8th September and all my care was provided by the staff on SAL. The staff were great and I really felt secure and safe. I was well looked after by staff nurse and 2 AP's who kept me well informed about everything that was going to happened right for the beginning. I was made to feel comfortable at all times and was given enough time to recover and be able to go home the same day. Before I left I was given pain relief to take home I didn't have to wait at the pharmacy and was given extras dressing for my wound. I was talked through everything I needed to know and told I could ring and ask anything once I was home. I was signposted well to other services if I needed them. Additionally the consultant who did my op has done a fantastic job and the wound has healed great. The scar is not that big and is very neat. Once I was home I got a follow up call from a staff nurse on the ward to ensure I was ok and to see how the wound was. I thought this was a lovely touch and I wasn't just another patient. I was well supported by all staff during my time in hospital. I would recommend SAL and Wigan hospital to anyone going in for a similar op to what I had.
