"Urology In-Patient Expeience"

I was recently admitted for a prostrate operation. The NHS gets such bad press that I entered the hospital with some trepidation. However, all of the staff that I came into contact with both before and after admission were professional, caring and genuinely interested in my wellbeing. On several occasions individuals exceeded my expectations in the attention they were showing in my comfort and this interest reduced my anxiety levels considerably. I also had such an expectation of unpalatable food (after recent press coverage) that I arranged for my wife to visit with a food parcel. Once again my fears proved to be groundless and my wife returned home with the picnic. The food choice was varied, it was hot, well presented and very acceptable. The only area where I believe the hospital could improve is in pre admission communications. The anaesthesia information booklet was clear, concise and informative, but everything else with the exception of face to face briefings was to say the least vague. I felt my overall care was first class and I thank all the staff involved in looking after me, you should feel proud of the service you provide.
