"One cause of falls in hospital"

Some time ago I was visiting my Mother in hospital.

A frail elderly woman who had just had a hip replacement was trying to get to the toilet. The nurse supposed to be assisting her was gossiping with another patient. Her walking frame was obviously snagging on the floor. She crashed to the ground. From then on she deteriorated.

I have seen many elderly patients struggling to get out of bed to reach the toilets when their buzzers were not answered. Or if they could not reach the buzzers.
