"Initially my admittance to ACAD ..."

About: Central Middlesex Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

Initially my admittance to ACAD started well, promptly attended too and whisked into theatre, charge nurse (male) on ward was very impressive, spending time with nurses mentoring them etc etc. Thought perhaps he was some kind of specialist trainer or similar. Turned out he was just doing his job! Nurses seemed happy and motivated, regularly attended after opperation despite being stuck on my own in an empty part of the ward.

What could be improved

Soon after my opperation took place, a (female) charge nurse or sister took over the shift and swiftly things began too degenerate. I had been offered a meal at around 4;30pm not long after my opperation and didnt receive any further meals or food for another 18 hours! Presumably this is not how recovering patients ought to be treated? The level of care appart from the food episode had also noticeably dropped off too. General attitude had seemed to verge on the aggressive/dissmissive side and moral had certainly dropped under this new 'leader'. The nurses seemed on edge and disorganised. This by the way was a repeat of an alarmingly similar pattern endured on my previous stay in this ward, some months prior when the same sister was clearly 'running' things. She seemed to be someone to fear rather than respect and this seemed to show in her staffs performance and outlook. My partner who came to visit me on the ward was very angry after her experience in dealing with the ward sister. She was aggressive , unhelpfull, condescending and full of self imprtance, not something you would expect from a health 'proffessional' . Then again maybe that rings a few bells!?

Anything else?

The seats in the waiting area for the ACAD ward are pretty disgusting to look at, in that they are covered in stains and tares and rips. These look far from hygenic nevermind anything else. I have seen better at most outdoor bus stops. The type of chairs chosen look to be unsuitable for their purpose, ie not robust enough and easily marked/stained.
