"My daughter has repeatedly been ..."

(as a relative),

What I liked My daughter has repeatedly been let down by this hospital. Her clear medical needs have been ignored and left undiagnosed and untreated. The attitudes of SOME staff in relation to this have been appalling. Immediately that parents challenge wrong decisions by staff the parents are labelled as troublemakers just in case a complaint is made. There are some good staff at this hospital but their hands are tied by policies that are not designed with the patients' interests in mind. They are also prevented from acting in the best interests of the patients by bad management. Good doctors are forced to ignore the needs of patients by bad doctors and bad managers. What could be improved? Parents could be listened to and their concerns acted upon. Real concern and interest could be shown with regard to genuine health problems. Nurses should be protected from being forced into the games that some doctors play in order to blame parents when the hospital is in the wrong. Nurses do not want to be made to act in this way but clearly have no choice. Whilst moden matrons are supposed to have authority over doctors they should not be allowed to influence or issue orders to doctors who want to do what is right for the patient -there is no excuse for a matron to prevent health care.
