"Frail man fell out of bed"

My husband was in hospital recently (Just before Christmas). The very elderly and frail man in the next bed tried to get out of bed, he was catheterized, and all he managed to do was to hang himself, but the catheter on the bed rail. He was showing his private parts and was just dangling by the tubing of the catheter off of the bed. I went to find a nurse, there was not one in sight, after a long trek down the corridor and back again, I eventually found 3 nurses in the staff room sitting down having a tea break - I called for help, one of them followed me, took one look at the man and his predicament, he laughed. He then picked up part of a bed sheet and covered the man's "modesty" with it and walked off, told me to sit down and not worry he'd deal with it. I went back to my husband, I checked my watch, ELEVEN minutes later he came back with 2 other nurses and a hoist, between the three of them it took another 6 minutes to get the elderly man back in his bed. I commented that the man was so frail and thin I could have easily lifted him back into bed without any help. The male nurse laughed again, and said then you should have done it and not bothered us, don't you think we have better things to do. I replied, what drink tea?

My husband was discharged the following day, but he did tell me that he was totally ignored by the staff, from the time I left at 3.30, until the night staff came on. He is unable to feed himself, but when meal time came, his food was put so he could not reach it and no-one came to feed him. His meal was taken away uneaten sometime later, he got nothing to eat again until the next morning. It seem that these nurses didn't care.
