"No interpretors at the hospital for young child"

About: Heartlands Hospital / Paediatrics

(as a carer),

Last week I had to take an unacompanied asylum seeking child who doesnt speak English, read or write with stomach pain., After being told by the receptionist that they do not have interpretors any more because it is too expensive. I was treated with disdain, no h elp offered, I was then asked if the child could tell me what was wrong with him???????? I had to ring round using my own resources to find an interpretor who could support the child while being in a lot of pain and having to wait till he arrived. This happened At Birmingham Heartlands Hospital which is a multi cultral hospital. I might add that the nursing staff and consultant did everything they could to make the child feel comfortable while we were waiting for help, but the system at that hospital stinks!! I am now in the process of compling a compalint against the treatment that we as child and carer received
