I was moved to ward 12 from ward 3. Whilst on this ward,I encountered many staff, mostly who were heath care assistants, who were very rude and dismissive of my heart symptoms. When j told them I had symptoms of an irregular heart rhythm (for which I am under a cardiologist at the Freeman for), without checking my pulse or doing an ECG (standard checks) more than one commented it was my fault it was fast, and to "go to sleep" after switching off my light. I had an episode of sickness and diarrhoea on the ward, and when I told a heath assistant she just looked at me and said "where's the proof then?" (Erm... Down the toilet like any civilised person would do). Nurses handover was more like a game of Chinese whispers as every new nurse had the wrong information about my condition, some didn't even know what it was!! I had to keep telling them that the problem is with my heart being irregular and slow, not fast! It got to point where I didn't want to tell them for which the consultant told me off for. Also I was in for over a week and all that time I saw consultants from various fields... Except cardiology. Both I, and my cardiologist at the Freeman are baffled and angered by this.
