About: Wythenshawe Hospital

I was required to book in by 07:15 the process was fairly quick, however I didn't go down to theatre until 13:15 and being asked to fast from 22:00 the previous evening I felt was too long to go without food or drink. Having said that the staff in theatre, the recovery room and ward F3 were excellent, especially the nurses and other staff on F3. I was under the care of a female nurse and she was so kind considerate and helpful and made my short stay on F3 very comfortable.

Many thanks for taking the time to post your comments on the NHS Choices website. I fully understand your concerns about the length of time that you fasted before being taken down to theatre for your procedure. Patient are asked to book in by 7.15 to ensure that their admission information is taken and that they are fully prepared for their surgery. The time that a patient is having their procedure is not always readily available as the order in which patients procedures are carried out may not be know until the day of the procedure. On occasion, those patients who are known to be having their procedure in the afternoon, may be allowed to have sips of water in the early morning depending on the circumstances. I have passed your comments to the team and would also like to thank you for your positive comments about the level of care you received from the theatre staff and staff on F3. Kind regards Patient Experience Manager
