Having been awoken by a pain in my left shoulder on Saturday morning, I rang the 111 out of hours number for advice at about 8 o'clock. Within two hours of that call I had been assessed by an ambulance crew and taken to the John Radcliffe cardiology department where the problem of a blockage in an artery had been identified, cleared and a stent inserted. I was in a recovery bed just after ten. Subsequent care was excellent. All personnel in the cardiology department were professional and good humoured even when clearly under pressure from their workload. This is the NHS at its best.
"Superb service"
