Its difficult to rate Wexham as there is so much difference in staff quality, at one moment you are treated with dignity, respect and night staff come over treating you like dirt. I was sent to Maternity Triage 15/09/14, admitted to Ward 21, a caesarean was performed, ended up in Labour Ward and then onto Ward 22 (where I was discharged and readmitted). I had pre-eclampsia and so needed urgent care, my pre and post OP was proving too hard to control. I was too briefly present in any ward except 21 to really comment objectively, however I must say inexperienced decisions led to me suffering for an hour of post OP pain, after I reacted with morphine and its effects were reversed without giving me alternate pain-killer. However, the staff apologised and I felt sympathy. However, ward 22 is a different case, senior nurses cover their backs ensuring that quick turnaround patients are treated and cleared faster than prolonged, unresolved cases, for what, one can only assume targets that need to be met - and hence care is degraded completely. I can't help but think that these reviews are one-sided, as most patients with bad experience want to forget it and carry on with their lives. BP not taken on time, medicine not given on time, patients who are deemed to be complaint-hoards are ignored and passed onto the next shift ... on one nigh I noticed my chat saying that I was observed as sleeping at 12am, 2am, 4am, 6am with an all ticked entry at 8am just before changeover. That can't be possible as my newborn is awake all night and I struggle to breast feed her. I have noticed that when staff are questioned about results such as blood work, they pass on the results to midwives and do not disclose so to protect each other. How shameful is that? How many women suffer and endure through this silent treatment not knowing what to do ... no wonder they are in hurry to get home limping all the way! One night I really struggled to breastfeed my newborn and decided eventually to use formula and asked for help, replies I got, "its all in the nursery", "there are no cups left" ... this is the level of responsibility these people carry? Their are people who are genuine and have true care in their hearts but usually they are few among the politics that rule. I have had 3 operations in Wexham Park Hospital in the year 2013/14 and I have not returned home from any one of those feeling cared for, heck each time I came home scarred reminding myself never to go back. What use are these reviews but a mere curtain of a failing hospital due to under staffed departments and mis-management.
"A hospital that is focussed on targets and not..."
