(as a staff member posting for a patient/service user),

I would like a computer on Porchester ward, The Wells Road Centre, which can access the internet and would be useful to run mixing/ music programmes on. If it could access the internet we could order things we need.

Porchester ward are in the process of ordering a computer for the patients to use. There is current access to the internet in the hospital Library which most patients have access to. Staff also support patients to local Libraries and internet cafe's in the hope that as leave progresses they will be able to do this independently.

We have also recently employed a music teacher within the OT department who facillitites mixing and other music related IT programmes. We will link in with them on your behalf to look at how music programmes can be used on the wards. Thank you for this suggestion which may be of benefit to other wards within the site as well.

The computer was placed on order at the end of October and has still not arrived. We need to contact the supplier and find out what the delay is.

I am pleased to say that a new laptop has arrived on Porchester ward for patient use. (It took longer to arrive than we expected and took some chasing with the supplier). Please speak to the Ward Manager about how to access it.
