"Inadequate care pre and post skin cancer op"

About: Ilkeston Community Hospital

Alleged minor surgery needed for skin cancer. Appointments were delayed or forgotten about. The surgery seemed to go ok but i have been really ill and infected since. Only received basic info about post surgery which seems irrelevant and vastly understated what would happen or be needed next. 3 weeks on waiting biopsy results but no idea what for or what happens next with no follow up appointment offered. The staff themselves are friendly and supportive but the whole system feels inadequate and inefficient. Disappointed and unnecessarily worried.

Thank you for letting us know about problems you have and contine to experience after treatement at the Outpatients Department at Ilkeston Hospital. We are very concerned to hear them. I would be very grateful if you would contact (Patient Experience Team 01773 525119) to discuss what happened. We need to find out what happened and what needs to be improved. We can also discuss whether you now want to make a complaint. I look forward to hearing from you. Lisa Hallam, Patient Support Officer, Derbyshire Community Health Services NHS Trust
