"A&E was superb"

Last Saturday morning I had to bring my partner into A&E with severe abdominal pain, following the advice of NHS111. On behalf of both of us, I just wanted to let you know how impressed we were with the service that we received. We arrived at about 10.50am and the waiting room was packed. Despite this, she was triaged after just over an hour and then ushered to take a seat within Majors. We only waited here about 10-15 minutes before being shown to a cubicle. The doctor came in and spoke to her clearly and politely and explained what they were going to do. A nurse then came in to undertake some tests. After about 90mins in the cubicle we were then both offered something to eat and drink – a nice and unexpected touch. The nurse who had originally triaged her also popped her head round to check how she was doing. Even when we needed to move across to CDU, the doctor came in and explained what was going to happen and gave us a good 5-10 minutes notice before somebody moved us across. Even when in CDU, the doctor frequently came across to check how she was doing. Eventually, at around 5.30pm, we were given the thumbs-up that we are okay to leave. Throughout our time here, it was clear that the department was very busy, but everyone who treated her took the time to make sure that she was okay. The service we received was very impressive and couldn't be faulted, so please share our thanks and gratitude to everybody who was involved.
