"Appendecectomy at 27 weeks pregnant"

About: Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital / Accident and emergency Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital / General surgery Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital / Maternity

(as the patient),

Suffering from very severe abdominal pains my husband brought me into A&E at 27 weeks pregnant. I was transferred to delivery where they carried out tests to check for preterm onset of labour. All was fine with baby but appendicitis suspected. I was sent straight down to theatre and appendix removed. I was then cared for by delivery who monitored my baby and myself and I was discharged after a short stay in cley ward. The care I received was nothing short of exemplary and I was extremely grateful that such a busy and important department looked after me impeccably. I was touched at the compassion and friendly nature and of course not forgetting the professionalism during such a frightening time for myself and my husband. NNUH was fantastic and I would have no qualms about returning for any reason!
