I was recently taken to Pinderfields 2 days after returning from holiday after starting with excruciating stomach pains, dairrhoea and eventually collapsing. I was taken to A & E dept in an ambulance after initially being treated at home by the ambulance crew who were extremely efficient . I was taken very good care of, having many blood tests taken and other tests from where they found that my Kidney function was very poor and needed to stay in overnight maybe longer.I had possibly contracted an infectious bug of some kind but further investigations and treatments were needed. I was transferred to Ward 12 into a private room with infection stickers on the door as it was decided that what I had contracted on holiday could be infectious but not quite sure of a diagnosis at that point . The treatment on Ward 12 was very good and hygiene second to none but this is the Acute Assessment ward treating many different illnesses, not a speciality ward. I was then later transferred to Ward 44 Gastro Ward where again I was in a private room with infection stickers on the door. The consultant, doctors, nursing staff, catering and cleaning staff on this ward are great. The care I received was amazing. My room was frequently cleaned every few hours, the nurses were terrific, friendly, efficient couldn't have asked for more. The tests I had came back that I had contracted a nasty form of Salmonella but they were quickly on top of this and treated me accordingly around the clock. I cant thank them enough for the way I was cared for and have now been discharged to continue my medication and recuperate at home which may take a while. I would like to thank all the staff involved in my treatment and care at Pinderfields.
"Fantastic Team Ward 44"
