What I liked
Some of the nurses on the Gynaecology ward are very nice and professional so the negative comments here are only for a minority percentage.
What could be improved
cleanliness of ward.
Attitude of some of the nurses and Sisters.
The way in which some of the old patients were treated by some nurses and Sisters.
Unprofessional and unhigenic examples listed below.
Anything else?
My partner is currently an orthopaedic patient with a spinal/nerve injury in the gynaecology ward as its the overspill for the orthopaedic ward. She is on 2 or 3 different pain killers for nerve pain, the main one being morphine. My partner has been a chronic pain patient for the past 5 years and she very rarely tells me she is in pain unless i ask...and the answer is usually a yes. When i've been to visit the past few nights she has been in serious pain even by her standards (she has a very high pain threshold)and she has to ask for morphine (which the doctors prescribed) as it seems some of the nurses don't to want to give her any. Perhaps they know better than the doctor?? I was present when my partner told the doctor the nurses were stalling giving her the morphine and he was not happy at all!!!! when she does ask for morphine she can wait for up to 2 hours to get it. (when you need morphine you need morphine) Myself and my partner understand she is not the only patient in the ward, my mother is a nurse and we both know they can be understaffed sometimes but there is no excuse for waiting up to 2 hours for morphine when you really need it.
My partner also witnessed an old lady in the next bed drop her cutlery during dinner, the SISTER picked it up off the floor and gave it back to her. The floor is not the cleanest. This is disgusting. I've asked my partner to try and get the name of the sister.
I'm thinking about going back to the ward with a camera tonight......maybe i will.
