"Horrible time in birthing center"

About: Northwick Park Hospital

As my pregnancy was going really well, I decided to give the birthing center a try. Although I needed a growth scan, as baby seemed big, everybody recommended the birthing center as being luxurious and a relaxed environment for giving birth naturally. I arrived there at 16:00 and 4cm dilated and got a room immediately. From then on I was first under the supervision of a student midwife for the next 6h. At 8pm a new midwife arrived and told me I was doing great, however, at 1am she got worried as my labor did not progress. She called a senior midwife, which came in, took one look at my belly and shouted ' you way too big, you're not giving birth here' and off I had to go to the maternity ward ending in an emergency c-section. Why did nobody alert me before that my baby would be too big to be delivered there? Instead I endured 9 hours labor without pain relief... Horrible and I can't recommend the birthing center! The C section itself was amazing, very well organised and executed! I felt extremely safe! Care afterwards on the materny ward was absolutely horrible! Absolutely nobody took care of you, shame to leave woman like this after such hard labor! Careless nurses! I will do my best not to ever step foot in there again!
