"I was in the A & E dept I ..."

About: Stepping Hill Hospital

(as a relative),

What I liked

I was in the A & E dept I had to take my 17month old baby who had slipped and banged his head, he was soon fairly quickly by the nurse but then told there was a 4half hour waiting to see a doctor - try explaining this to a 17 month old who is already very distressed, i was told i can wait in the 'play room' the room was disgusting and had he played with any toys in there he probably would have caught a disease, the toys are old and disgustingly dirty, the room is not very child friendly. I realise they prob rely on donations but they could at least clean them they could even buy nicer cheap ones from a charity shop. Also once we did get seen it took the doctor literaly 2 mins he could have seen him earlier and saved alot of distress on my part and my babies part but said they had to 'follow guidelines' well I wonder if they would had it been their baby crying his eyes out

What could be improved

I over heard them saying deal with some of the minors in which case they could have seen him then but still put drunks and adults before a little baby

Anything else?

think they should use common sense and not guidelines
